Fly My Little Invitations, Fly!

Today Amber has officially sent out the invitations, fresh with our saliva, so keep an eye on your mailbox.  We were hoping to send them out earlier, but we hit a snafu with the plans for the reception and needed to change the direction cards.  That is all!

Well well well…it’s been a while since we’ve blogged on here, so here I am to ramble on about some exciting things going on in our life! Well for starters our wedding is just about 3 1/2 months away…can you believe it? I’m excited…and then again I think it’s crazy. To think that Dan & I will be MARRIED in a few months, it’s crazy! Dan says it means we’ll be grown-ups when we’re married, haha. I’m not too sure about that! But I wouldn’t have it any other way. :) We’ve been busy making phone calls, getting dresses and jewelry, decorations, wedding bands, discussing music, getting ready to start addressing invitations, planning the programs, getting details ready for the reception, going to marriage counseling, and chatting with all the right people to get things as organized as we possibly can; for all of our sanity, mine in particular! So all in all we’ve been keeping the wedding planning at the very least in the back of our minds :)

Also about 5 weeks ago Dan moved into my apartment with me. Both of our leases were up, my roommate was moving home, and neither of us could afford to live on our own, so I let him move in :) Thus far things have been going pretty great. We’ve been setting up our apartment, which is still a work in progress. Dan said he’ll be putting up a virtual tour of our apartment for those of you who want to see what our apt looks like, so stay tuned for that.

We just got back from the beach last week. We went to Chincoteague Island, VA. We had such a great time. It’s so nice to get away. The weather was wonderful minus the big storm we had the first night we were there. I thought our tent was going to blow away for sure, but it didn’t, and we even stayed dry! We got plenty of sun and our share of bug bites, but we had a blast sitting around the fire at night time making s’mores and mountain pies. The water was ice cold, but that didn’t stop Dan & I, we ran in and then literally ran right back out! All in all, an A+ time! :)

Our kitty Amos is doing great. He’s so cute! He recently got declawed, but he’s doing much better now. He’s back to his terror of a self :)

It’s going to be a busy next few months, besides the fact that summer always goes fast. Within the next few weeks we’ll (I’ll) be knee deep in addressing invitations, and ordering necessities for the wedding. It’ll be here before we know it…can’t wait! So until next time…hope everyone has a great summer!

Amber :)

The Engagement

Here be the infamous e-mail announcement sent out on 3/14:

A long time ago (1 year and 4 months) in a basement far far away (about 5 miles) I met a nice young lady who, at the time, I only knew that she liked to play volleyball and throw little peices of paper at me to get my attention.  Well, either the volleyball or the paper (or both) managed to get my attention and fast forwarding to the present, the lovely young lady has agreed to marry me.  And I didn’t even have to beg, or throw paper.

I picked up the ring from Julie and Matt’s on Wednesday under the clever excuse of taking my roomate to pick up his Jeep, which wasn’t untrue at all.  As soon as I had it I knew I couldn’t wait until my original planned date (Good Friday), so we started brainstorming for other ways to propose.

Yesterday it was pretty nice outside, and I had been hinting at going for a motorcycle ride all day.  We had already decided we were going to go to the Olive Garden for dinner since we had some giftcards from xmas that we haven’t used yet (Thanks Matt / Dave and Stacy).  I decided to hide the ring box in her helmet in hopes of her finding it when we were getting ready, though it didn’t quite happen that way.  I asked her to hand me her gloves from her helmet because she has vented gloves that aren’t really suitable for chilly riding weather.  The box was taped to the knuckles of the gloves, but instead she gives me the whole helmet.  Improvising a bit (Suzanne, you’re right, I guess it never works out the way you want - hah!) I grabbed the helmet and told her that the gloves aren’t going to fit anymore, which was confusing so I repeated myself and added “Because now you’ll have a ring on your finger”.  The following typical knee bend, the question and answer session went as planned and we became officially engaged.

Here’s some answers to questions you may have:

  1. We didn’t get any good pictures taken of us yesterday, sorry.  We will get some decent shots, I’m super duper serious.
  2. While nothing is set in stone, I think we’re shooting for this October as the wedding date.
  3. The wedding/reception will be in the Lewistown, PA area.  While I’m sure there are hotels in the area for those of you who may be traveling, Lewistown is also about an hour away from State College which might be a much more fun place to stay for the evening.  Though if there is a home PSU game that weekend you can forget it.
  4. I had the tour of italy at the olive garden with a sam adams and we shared a piece of white chocolate raspberry cheesecake for the dessert.
  5. Yes, I’m still full.
